There’s no age limit to learn how to love and respect the underwater world. Bryce and Connor did a great job learning the basics of scuba diving on their Bubblemaker program and were super excited to get involved in the Coral Restoration Project helping the CRF staff to transplant their first Elkhorn corals on the reef. Joining the team of the youngest Coral Restoration Divers, they kept snorkeling and watching over their ‘baby corals’ throughout the week. They say they won’t forget where they transplanted the corals and will check how much they’ve grown every time they come down on vacation to Bonaire. Young coral lovers and corals will all be growing together.
CRF Bonaire together with CRF International joined forces last month to start the new CRF Curacao Project, getting one step closer to the shared goal: protect and restore the reefs. During the 5 days of working in Curacao, a new 10 tree nursery has been set up and staghorn and elkhorn corals colonies have been sampled from 10 different locations on the island. Corals have been placed in the nursery where they will generate 2nd and 3rd generations of corals that once mature will be transplanted onto degraded portions of the Curacao reef.
Thanks to the dive-shop Ocean Encounter for the support and effort to make CRF Curacao a reality.
